Celebrating Differences: Honoring Achievement, Pride, and Possibility During Disability Pride Month
July 2, 2026
This July,
Goodwill Industries of Greater Nebraska is proud to celebrate Disability Pride Month with our annual
Celebrating Differences event — a special gathering recognizing the achievements, growth, talents, and milestones of the individuals we serve through our Developmental Disability Services programs.
The 2026 Disability Pride Month theme, “The World Works Better With Us,” is a powerful reminder that people with disabilities strengthen our workplaces, communities, friendships, and future. Every day, individuals supported by Goodwill contribute creativity, determination, kindness, leadership, and unique perspectives that make our communities stronger.
At Goodwill, we believe every person deserves opportunities to reach their goals and improve their quality of life. Through services focused on independence, skill development, community engagement, employment readiness, and personal growth, we are honored to walk alongside individuals as they build meaningful lives filled with purpose and connection.
During our Celebrating Differences event, we will recognize participants for important milestones and accomplishments from the past year, including:
- Years of participation milestones
- Goal Getter Awards
- Volunteer recognition
- Best Buddy recognition
- Sunshine Award
- Helper of the Year
- Community involvement achievements
- Personal growth and independence milestones
This celebration is about more than awards. It is about recognizing the unique strengths and stories that each individual brings to our Goodwill community.
The phrase “The World Works Better With Us” reflects something we see every day across our programs and communities: inclusion benefits everyone. When individuals of all abilities are welcomed, supported, and empowered, communities become more compassionate, innovative, and connected.
As we celebrate Disability Pride Month, we also celebrate the importance of dignity, self-expression, accessibility, belonging, and opportunity for all.
Thank you to our participants, families, teammates, caregivers, community partners, and supporters who help make this work possible. Together, we continue building communities rooted in CARE — Community, Accountability, Respect, and Empowerment.
