Nichole Manages Her Mental Health

NIchole's initial goal when she came to Goodwill was to receive disability benefits, but she quickly realized working is a key component to her mental health. Nichole worked diligently with her Employment Specialist to build confidence, problem solve, and create a resume focusing on her skills and talents.

Our "Good" News

Donation Pickup now available in Grand Island!

July 29, 2025
Donation Pickup now available in Grand Island!

Goodwill Industries of Greater Nebraska is making giving easier than ever. Our new "Donation Pickup” program enables eligible residents—specifically within the Grand Island city limits—to arrange for nonprofit pickups right at their doorstep.

🚛 What Is It?

The service is designed for large donations: The minimum is two or more pieces of furniture or at least ten medium/large moving boxes (up to a max of three furniture items or 20 boxes/bags)

Donations must be in good used condition—meaning no broken, torn, stained, or pet‑hair covered items.

🗓️ How It Works

Pickups are currently scheduled on Wednesdays between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Due to volume and varied routes, time windows are approximate, though a 30‑minute advance phone call can be requested. The service is free within Grand Island city limits (zip codes 68801 and 68803), with a minimum donation size.

Residents outside these ZIP codes or with very large donations should contact Goodwill to explore options or clean‑out pickups.

🌟 Why It Matters

This service supports Goodwill's Mission and our commitment to the community by:

  • Reducing barriers for donors—especially those without vehicles or unable to transport large items.
  • Promoting sustainability, helping goods stay in circulation rather than ending up in landfills.
  • Fostering community support: donations directly fund programs supporting individuals with disabilities, mental health challenges, and other barriers across Nebraska

✅ How to Schedule

  • Visit the Schedule a Pickup page on the Goodwill Nebraska site.
  • Confirm your eligibility (location, item quantity, condition).
  • Complete the online form or call the designated pickup coordinators.
  • Prepare items per home entry guidelines.
  • Receive pickup confirmation and an optional 30-minute heads‑up call.
  • Enjoy a clutter‑free space and know your contributions are empowering local lives.
